Changes to the appointment system Posted on 23 Dec 2019

To increase the number of available appointments we have recruited three new part-time GPs and have increased the number of appointments with the Urgent Care Practitioner.

In addition to this we are trialling a new appointment system to try to make it easier for you to book an appointment and to improve the service we provide.

In line with many other GP practices we are reducing the number of weeks ahead patients can book.  We hope that this will mean patients can be seen sooner. We also hope that this will reduce the number of DNAs.

With effect from Monday 28 October you will be able to book appointments with any GP for the following week.  This means that on Monday 28th October you will be able to book appointment for the period 4th November to 8th November. The following week on Monday 4th November you will be able to book appointments for the period 11th November to 16th November and so on.

If your GP has requested that you book an appointment to see them further in advance you will be able to book an appointment up to 4 weeks ahead, but only if you have:

  • A letter asking you to book a GP appt/recall phone call
  • The GP has written on your record that they want to  see you again

The receptionist will check before booking a recall slot

Please bear with us whilst we implement this new system.  Once the system has been running for a couple of weeks we will give you the opportunity to make comments on how well you think the new system is working.

Thank you for your co-operation and patience.
